NLP Advanced Language Patterns Mastery Day 43: Sleight of Mouth: Switch Referential Index

Sleight of Mouth: Switch Referential Index – Today, when someone states a limiting belief, use the following Sleight of Mouth pattern and notice if their experience of the limiting belief shifts. Be sure to maintain rapport as you deliver the pattern.

Key Question: “For whom is this not true?”

Purpose: Another person is often a useful source of excellent counter-examples. Use also when you want to be more indirect (metaphorical), or when you want to invite a possibility but don’t know if it fits your listener’s set of experiences.

Switch Referential Index: Switch who the belief refers to.

“Do you know of anyone who has developed confidence who didn’t have it at one time?”

“Can you think of someone who overcame poverty?”
