Cmin 62bpm 10-24-07

This is a common progression in Cmin with a smooth jazz triplet feel. I programmed the drums, bass, phaser Rhodes, and improvised a short solo on an EXS24 Steinway piano.

Dmin 75bpm 10-16-07

I was feeling mellow today and needed to spend some time in the new Logic Pro 8 so this is what I came up with.

Looks like I’ve been spending a lot of time in Dmin lately.

Tips On Using Wordtracker

John Alexander, who, by the way, is giving away his ebook, Wordtracker Magic, which I paid good money for a couple years back, gave some great tips for finding keywords using Wordtracker.

When you attempt to research a specific phrase that is lodged in the front of your mind, you are limiting the results you will see to those that using that exact two word combination together. In the meantime, there could be hundreds of searches being done that you will never ever see or find, because you are logically guessing at a specific phrase that you ***think*** may be important.

He begins by using a single keyword rather than a keyword phrase which allows Wordtracker to show him how that keyword is being used in keyword phrases.

Many people take the approach of checking all of the keywords that make the most logical sense, rather than using a root word that is not illogical or not the most obvious.

10-11-07 Dmin 88bpm

This slow techno/R&B track begins with A phrygian chord and is tonally centered on Dmin Aeolian. I was playing around with the new Logic Pro 8 Template Chooser and used the basic electronic template as my palette.

I quickly came up with a simple descending synth hook that I liked. I’m also playing around with a vocal melody that’s not in the mix yet.

This will be the last APU ever!

As much as I love teaching Absolute Pitch University, 3 months is a very long commitment and I’ve decided not to teach it again. I might break it down into single modules later, but if you want the opportunity to be among the elite few who finish APU, now’s the only time.
