Thanks for visiting my site and for your interest in working together musically.
I have plenty of live playing experience. I began performing professionally at the age of 14. By 15, I had a regular solo jazz piano gig and was playing with many different bands performing original music and covers. During college, I studied jazz saxophone at Pitt and performed all over the area with various jazz groups and cover bands. Since college, I’ve supported myself by teaching music and playing professionally. I’ve been extremely fortunate to tour throughout the United States. A few career highlights include playing piano with jazz legend James Moody and opening for Cheap Trick as the keyboardist and lead singer of the band, Fear The Monk.
I currently teach private lessons, do freelance recording and composing, and write songs for my own enjoyment.
What I’m Looking For
I’m looking to offer my skills as a musician, songwriter, and composer. I will play piano at your restaurant, play keys in your band, compose music for your video project, write songs for your album, write lyrics for your melodies, or even provide some objective coaching or analysis to you or your group’s music. If you think I can be of any assistance, please contact me.
Style
I love ALL styles of music. For an idea of what I’m currently listening to and my listening habits since 2006, you can check out my charts on Last.fm.
I grew up listening to Classical music, Rock, Pop, R&B, Funk, Jazz, and Hip-Hop. I’m also a fan of Alternative music (and it’s many sub-genres), Gospel, Progressive Rock, Electronic, Dance, Reggae, and World music. To a lesser degree, I enjoy listening to and playing Country and Metal.
But I want to emphasize that I love music. While I have my preferences, I try to listen to as many diverse styles of music as possible so as not to become stale or rigid.
Gear
I specialize in piano, synth and vintage keys. My current live keyboard rig is a Nord Stage Compact and Barbetta Sona 41 keyboard amp. For more complicated needs, I MIDI to my MacBook Pro where I run Logic Pro and MainStage for a large assortment of soft synths. For studio work, I record to Logic Pro using an Apogee Duet. I own the following keyboards: Nord Stage Compact, Wurlitzer 200A, and a Hohner Clavinet D6.
