It’s February Album Writing Month!

It’s the 5th annual February Album Writing Month. The challenge? Write an entire album in just 29 days.

FAWM.org has a bunch of resources to get you started. So does RPM ‘08. As for me, you might like to check out my songwriting tips tag archive.

I’m participating in my own songwriting challenge that lasts the entire year. My goal is to write a song a week or at least 50 songs this year. I’m only a little behind schedule and that will be remedied this weekend. As for the recordings, they’ll be coming shortly. I just purchased some new gear and I’m trying to integrate it into my workflow. Stay tuned.

    Hey Graham,

It’s been way to long. Interesting that you mention your goal of writing one song a week. I heard that Ari Hest left his label and is out on his own, and he’s doing something called project 52, where his fans can subscribe for the year, and he’s putting out a song a week.

I guess with thousands of fans waiting for the song you promised them a week, it’s a good motivational factor not to look like a complete loser. What about for us?

How do we keep the motivation within our hectic and busy lives, where we don’t make a full time off of our music?

I have too many unfinished songs, arghhh!

I’ve always wanted to put together a fellowship of sorts. Can’t wait to hear some of your new songs.

    Cheers,
    Josh

Hi Josh and Graham, yep it’s the same here….

Our lives do get busy, and I guess all life is inspiration so even if there’s not a song there’s experiences imprinted on our minds and our very souls..
Raw material…for that songwriting mission sometime???

Like you Josh I have so many unfinished songs but the song I completed ‘Shaking Her Wings’ I wrote the music 20 years ago but the words never seemed quite right let alone the melody but the words came for a new song and I thought wow that will suit that music i did and so there the song was completed with a complete new melody!!!!
    And I’m happy with it!!!

Some things really do take time..

    Lets take heart guys….:-)
