The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan

January 17, 2010 By Graham English

This is my new desktop background:

It’s a word cloud based on Bob Dylan’s album, The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan. I even used the same colors on the album cover.

I created it by taking all of the lyrics from the album and putting them into Wordle. I regularly read through his lyrics and analyze his word choice so it made sense to find out what words he uses most. I plan to create one using all of his lyrics but in the interim, I’ll be making one for each of his albums.

I’ll post them as I make them. You can download the large version here.

You can find them all here: Bob Dylan Word Clouds

Interesting and impressive, Graham. I’m not sure what it all means, but I don’t care. It’s inspiring, freewheelin’, and fun, more so because I memorized all those lyrics long ago, so I can’t look at any word without hearing it as a series of echoes and reverberations.

These are the top 100 words he used throughout the album. It’s pretty cool how it can trigger so much memory, huh?

I absolutely love these word clouds – the words, the colours, brilliant idea. I guess it helps if you like playing with words (like I do, like you clearly do, and cert like Bob does and always has done. Fab stuff – will be looking at all the albums in between classes (I teach!). Many thanks
    in peace

Thanks! Glad you’re getting something out of them. I know I am!
