Songwriter, Recording Artist, and Blogging Musician
On the one hand, I feel like I can’t take any credit for this piece because I didn’t play a lick of it. On the other hand, I spent a lot of time creating the rules that would compose this music in real-time.
This is my first attempt at composing generative music.

I was feeling mellow today and needed to spend some time in the new Logic Pro 8 so this is what I came up with.
Looks like I’ve been spending a lot of time in Dmin lately.
This slow techno/R&B track begins with A phrygian chord and is tonally centered on Dmin Aeolian. I was playing around with the new Logic Pro 8 Template Chooser and used the basic electronic template as my palette. I quickly came up with a simple descending synth hook that I liked. I’m also playing around with a vocal melody that’s not in the mix yet.
I wrote this with two things in mind. First, picture a group of super hip guys and one really hot girl in a get away car after an extremely intricate and adrenaline boosting heist. This is the soundtrack.
I started this just over a week ago but have been too busy to spend much time writing or recording. Lame.
A whole bunch of funky blips and bleeps in C#min at 110bpm. I’ve got a hook to go with this but have yet to record it.
A smooth and silky dark 100bpm groove in Cmin.
