Google’s Duplicate Content Filter And Your FeedBurner Feed – What You Should Know

It seems that with the infiltration of spam sites and splogs into Google’s search index, they came up with a duplicate content filter to solve this problem. These spam sites use automated tools to scrape content from other websites with the hopes of creating keyword dense pages that rank high in the search engines and [...]

British band Duran Duran are to create a virtual island within online game Second Life, on which they will perform actual live concerts. Second Life is an online 3D digital world, which is imagined, created and owned by the residents. Are virtual celeb appearances the next big thing online?
What a great idea. I’ve spent very [...]

Senator Kerry Blogs On Net Neutrality

I voted against this lousy bill for two reasons: because net neutrality and internet build-out are crucial to building a more modern and fair Information Society, and both were pushed aside by the Republicans.

Colorado Senators’ Position On Net Neutrality

From Senate: Where They Stand Now (List Updated 9-15):
Talking Points Memo is keeping a tally of where Senators stand as we close in on the vote. (The latest update occurred June 15.)
Find your Senators’ names. See where they stand. If they support Net Neutrality, tell them to keep it up. If they oppose it [...]

Funny…

I realized that I had asked a question about the President using PowerPoint a couple of days ago and practically the next day watched a former Vice President do exactly that. Except he wasn’t using PowerPoint, he was using Keynote. Yep. That’s right. The creator of the internet uses a Mac.
And the South Park episode [...]

Google Disapproved Ads Now Auto-Update

It used to be that if you had one of your Google ads disapproved, Google would manually review the edited ad before making it active again. Now all you do is edit the ad and it goes live. No more manual review.
Cool. Because I sometimes waited 24 to 48 hours before my ads would go [...]

Marketing To The Millennials

According to John Geraci, Millennials (Americans born 1977-1994) mistrust advertising. But they recognize the power of long-term messages–like repeated TV ads–as opposed to the internet’s instant advertising methods.
“New technologies rarely actually replace existing technologies. They tend to reposition them.”
A fundamental difference between the digital and analog ages is content in the analog world is tied [...]

Flamers Threaten The State Of The Blogosphere

A nasty war has been flaming around Dave Winer. It’s sad to watch. I have to admit that since I’ve been reading Dave’s blog for a long time now, I find he has a neurotic attachment to being the victim from time to time. He is only human. It’s nothing a little 3–2–1 couldn’t fix. [...]

The Long Tail

From Anything but business as usual:
Chris Anderson, editor-in-chief of Wired magazine, coined “The Long Tail“: A theory based on “the world of abundance” where instead of being obsessed with the head of the tail–the 20 percent of products that are hits–it’s the remaining 80% (which actually goes on forever) where the biggest money lies.
Main point: [...]
