Meditation Has A Measurable Effect On Alertness

Meditation is often credited with helping people feel more focused and energetic, but are the benefits measurable? When researchers tested the alertness of volunteers, they found that the practice proved more effective than naps, exercise or caffeine.

Absolute Pitch Power Lesson 2 Update/Improvement

I’ve espoused the virtues of accelerated learning techniques and I’m on record as saying that every other absolute pitch ear training course out there could be drastically improved if they only “got it.”

And while I don’t like to go “off topic” in my blog too much, I felt I had to, given the significance this information could have on your ear training and musicianship — let alone your entire life.

So one the basic premises of accelerated learning is that your brain is in a state of peak performance when it’s vibrating at a certain frequency. And different frequencies get different results.

There are natural ways to achieve these states, like through meditation, relaxation, and controlled breathing exercises. And there are other ways to induce these brain states, like bio-feedback, hypnosis, and…

Brain Wave Entrainment

Bio-feedback can get pretty expensive. You either visit a bio-feedback lab, or buy costly equipment that can read your vital statistics. But even then, you need to learn *how* to get into these altered states.

Hypnosis scares most people. Not only that, you either need to spend many hours learning how to use self-hypnosis or spend lots of money on a trained hypnotherapist.

But brain wave entrainment is simple and affordable. You simply pop in a CD and your brain will synchronize to the entrainment frequency.

Using binaural beats was all the rage for a while. Lots of people were selling binaural beat CDs and some audio editors would even create them for you. But new research has shown a technique called “Isochronic Tones” to be even better.

Well, being into accelerated learning and brain/mind research, I was blown away when I got an email from one of my trusted mentors, Stephen Pierce. Whenever he sends me an email, I drop everything and read it. But this one got me more excited than usual.

I could repeat everything he said, but I’ll just let you find out for yourself why I’m so excited about . And, why I think it’s going to be an indispensable tool to you, the musician.

Believe me, this changes everything. Find out more here:

Tips From The World’s Greatest Hypnotist

Hypnotic Influence power of influence was legendary. He was considered the greatest innovator of hypnosis and became famous for his unique hypnotic methods. He could put people into a hypnotic trance just by shaking hands.

What Erickson understood was that while speaking to a client at a conscious level, they were also listening at an unconscious level.

To illustrate the conscious mind from the unconscious mind, let’s point out your own conscious and unconscious experience. Right now your immediate conscious experience is of the words on this page and their meaning. Your unconscious experience contains your surroundings, various noises, bodily sensations, and so on (that is, they were unconscious until I brought them into your conscious experience). A good metaphor is that your conscious mind is like a marble that is floating in the ocean, which represents your unconscious mind.

So if I say to you, how soon you will fully realize that you are sitting here comfortably, reading the words on this page, and you are going into a deep trance only as quickly as your unconscious mind wants, you can understand that I may be making sense to your conscious mind, but there are parts of that sentence that are speaking directly to your unconscious mind.

Just how deep is that trance you are in? :)

In the language of hypnosis, the conscious mind is your critical mind. It is logical, linear, and analytical. The unconscious mind (also called the subconscious mind) is creative and non-linear. In neurophysiological terms, the conscious mind (Beta consciousness) would show up on an EEG graph as small, rapid, up-and-down lines. There is little fluctuation in the level of energy. When you alter your mental state with hypnosis, meditation, or as it happens naturally when you are crossing over into sleep, your brain wave levels shift to the unconscious (Alpha or Theta). In these states, there is a large fluctuation in the level of energy.

Large fluctuations of energy can cause your mental structure (all your past thoughts, actions, experiences, and learning) to break apart and reorganize itself. That’s why suggestions given to an individual while in an Alpha or Theta state (the unconscious mind) are so effective in creating changes in behavior. The new suggestion, dropped into the uneven Alpha rhythms like a pebble in a pond, creates a ripple effect through the stretched brain waves, tearing apart old programming and creating new behaviors and viewpoints.

OK, enough tech-talk. Simply put, our goal in Hypnotic Influence is to structure our communication to reach the listener’s unconscious mind so that we can influence behavior.

Let’s give a real world example you can sink your teeth into. As you are consciously reading these words on this page, there are various stimuli going on all around you. Your unconscious mind is recording the entire experience while your conscious mind has a very limited experience. Since language can have multiple layers of meaning, your conscious mind will respond to the surface meaning while your unconscious mind will respond to the deeper meaning.

The deeper level of language is where Hypnotic Influence takes place.

Learn How Mind Programming Works

Brain WavesThink of your brain wave in an altered state of consciousness as a piece of chewing gum stretched out. It gets thin and easily breaks apart if hit with new programming. When your brain reorganizes itself, it integrates the new information. In other words, it accepts the new idea. The more it is exposed to programming, the more it will accept the idea as reality.

According to leading-edge physics research, the use of altered states of consciousness (hypnosis, meditation, sleep programming) can lead to a transformation of nearly every part of your life. Physics chemist Ilya Prigogine proved this with his Nobel Prize-winning “Theory of Dissipative Structures.” Now confirmed by other experts, this theory has solved the mystery of why the use of altered states can result in life-changing insights, new behavioral patterns, and the relief of lifelong phobias or ailments. Here’s how the theory works:

First, you must understand that human beings are structures. The structure of your body is composed of bone, muscle, ligaments. Your mind, however, is given structure by the thoughts and memories that dictate your actions. Your mental programming (all your past thoughts, actions, experiences, and learning) provides your mind structure.

Prigogine’s theory states that complex structures (such as the human brain) require an enormous and consistent flow of energy to maintain their structure. In the brain, that energy is measured as brain wave levels on an EEG machine. The up-and-down pattern of brain wave levels reflects a fluctuation of energy to the brain. The larger the brain wave levels, the larger the fluctuation of energy.

When you are fully awake (in Beta consciousness), your brain wave levels would show up on an EEG graph as small, rapid, up-and-down lines. There is little fluctuation in the level of energy. When you alter your state of consciousness with hypnosis, meditation, or as happens naturally when you are crossing over into sleep, your brain wave levels shift to Alpha or Theta. In these altered states, there is a large fluctuation in the level of energy.

According to Prigogine, large fluctuations of energy can cause the structure to break apart and reorganize itself into an even more complex and higher form. That’s why suggestions given to an individual exploring in Alpha or Theta are so effective in creating change. The new suggestion, dropped into the uneven Alpha rhythms like a pebble in a pond, creates a ripple effect through the stretched brain waves, tearing apart old programming and creating new behaviors and viewpoints.

This is not possible while you are fully awake in Beta, for the small fluctuations of energy are suppressed by the brain. They are tight and compact and cannot be easily torn apart.

If you were going to use hypnosis or sleep programming to create positive change in your life, it is not necessary to believe it will work for it to work. If properly programmed in an altered state, your brain will accept the programming as reality. It may take a few days, weeks, or even months, but your subconscious will do everything within its power to match your outer reality with the new belief.

According to Prigogine’s theory, there’s an added bonus: each transformation makes the next one likelier. Carried to its logical conclusion, every time you successfully use an altered state of consciousness to solve a problem, program a new ability or achieve insights, you increase your chance of success the next time.

Everyone is already familiar with meditation/hypnosis, although they may not realize it. You pass through these altered states of consciousness at least twice a day, as you awaken in the morning and as you fall asleep at night.

Perhaps you would like to experience an altered state for yourself. Try my .
